20. I have a very shitty past three years.

I don't either. Where I'm from we're on a boarder where lots of tourists who speak a few languages sometimes come through. Accents are normal and you can tell a lot based on word-choice.

In the past three years I have:

- hunted a serial killer
- had to fight him and nearly got gutted (I won, cheers?)
- joined a PI firm
- and many other things I can't talk about because "reasons". (Most of those reasons are client confidentiality. Or LEOs asking us not to.)

Honestly sex is not really that big a deal? Just don't go into super big details. Complaining about grammar is very mild.

I mean, I've been military since I was fourteen, but. Like. That didn't involve serial killers. Just smugglers and aliens.

See, you have the actually cool job. I sort information for my boss and do interviews that involve a ton of emotional labor.

It's a good worth while job but, Jesus Christ.

The name of the son of the God of the faith I grew up in. In our lore he was born from a biologically impossible birth because well, devine intervention. Lots of stuff happened.

He died and ascended into our idea of the "good" afterlife.

It's not considered polite to use his name like that. Sometimes I'm not as polite as I should be.

See, if we were back home my grandmother would be a bit scandalized. She's a bit sensitive. The other one sneaks beer into plays because she thinks no one notices.

My parents would be scandalized, too. I haven't seen them since my graduation from the Academy, where they were unhappy I'd become affiliated with a whole alien while in training.

My parents wouldn't care if the job is being done correctly. Then it's an issue with that specific person.

Though they don't care for my boss too much. He's not a great people person. Just very good at finding out whatever he's been sent to. Sometimes his filter is worse than mine.

Thrawn's sort of the same. Part of it is cultural, that he's just not human. Part of it is that he doesn't have the patience for politics. People not being forthcoming when there's a common goal frustrates the kriff out of him.

Simon. He hates liars so much. He used to be a actually cop. I don't know how he ended up leaving. Just his lack of patience for liars.

He's good at knowing if you're lying. Something about reading body language or something. Very intuitive. It would be interesting to drop them in the same party. See what happens. If it was here Simon wouldn't be too pleased. He hates formal wear.

If Thrawn were here...

Well, he gets along fine in his uniforms, even the formal ones. But the societal norms would chafe. He wouldn't have much tolerance for Pheme's games, and anything trying to control his actions or force him to show emotion would be a pain. He's frustratingly opaque most of the time.

Of course, if he were here, we'd have to navigate what working together looks like when we're not under the formal supervision of the Navy.

Oh. Annie is here for it. Too bad the man in question isn't here. She wouldn't want that for anyone. It's very jarring. ]

I have a hard time with it too. I can't imagine how hard it would be if this kind of thing goes against what you're comfortable with.

Someone I am close to has a hard time because she comes from a similar society. She's not treated well there because of social classes and money. It chaffs against my principles because I don't treat people differently.

Very few things make us actually different if you take away the money. Puts you on the same level.

I think you'd have an interesting time navigating having an even playing field with Thrawn. I can't say I could predict what would happen.

Me, I'm from a backwater planet in Wild Space. Joining the Imperial Navy was my attempt at a better life. I still sometimes get planetary governors looking down their nose at me for my accent and lack of ties to the Galactic Core.

[A pause between messages. Right! Enough about what him and Thrawn would be like together here!]

Does this woman know you think of her as someone close to you?

I come from a back country town on a coast no one thinks much of. We don't have space travel past our fourth planet in our system yet. I have no idea what it's like for you but I think your life sounds pretty amazing.

Well. When we were busy flirting in a library over an old book of fairy tales and she was feeling a bit "unworthy" I kind of got dramatic. She was thinking very poorly of herself and I don't like that so I went all in.

Held the book up and said :"You are just as worthy as these princesses of love and adoration. You are no devil. You are a woman just like me."

So she at least knows I'm an over the top romantic when it strikes me. I'm probably doomed. Just a bit.
