Now I'm thinking it's no surprise those particular interests go together. Both of them are probably improved by decent tethering.

I guess I'd have to try using my imagination. See what I could come up with. Try not to bore such a well-traveled man as you are.

[Well, that's sure a list of items. Does the fact that he's already acquired candles appropriate for wax play say anything about him, though?]

[Prepared for all eventualities! Which is just as well, since Tayrey's direct experience in this particular field is limited to Captain Laitinen let me tie him down that one time...]

[And not long later, there's a knock on the door of Ari's home.]

[She's not exactly sure how what started as a little teasing about his homeworld became something really about to happen, but Ari Tayrey is nothing if not resourceful, in the way that spacer lieutenants ought to be. She lets him in.]

Peace and prosperity to you. [With a smile] Drinks first?

[ubuphaka]

[He brings out a couple bottles of local beer in thick brown glass bottles.]

Drinks first. And some ground work--it's best to be on the same page about what you want out of something like this, and have safety rules in place.

[astrogator]

[She takes one of the bottles with a few words of thanks, and leads him through to sit in the parlor.]

Rules? That's more formality than I was expecting. You know I'm not... I wouldn't ever want to really hurt you, or do anything you said you didn't want. I only meant for us to have a little fun together.

[Big gulp from the bottle.]

I appreciate that. The formality is about creating a structure within which we can have fun. It makes it so you can immediately differentiate between ‘I’m shrieking and pulling away because I’m ticklish and that’s part of the fun’ and ‘I’m shrieking and pulling away because something is wrong and this needs to stop’, for example.

[He’s trying to ease her into the etiquette side of this, but he won’t jump into this sort of play, especially with blindfolds and wax, without this talk.]

[astrogator]

[Ari's not sure that wouldn't take all the spontaneity out of it - but it's also impeccably logical, and he does have the benefit of experience. She nods.]

Alright. It's not how I did things before, but it makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. So how do I differentiate between scenarios like those two?

[ubuphaka]

A safeword. A word neither of us would use in bed under any circumstance. Short and easy to remember. If either of us says it, we stop, assess the situation and then move to aftercare.

[astrogator]

Got it.

[She thinks for a moment. There can be no ambiguity, so a word she'd use for a different kind of alarm is right out. It needs to be memorable, even for someone very distracted.]

Cargo? Would that work?

[Short. Distinctive in sound. And there is no reason to talk about any kind of shipping while in bed.]
