The "map" has several lines and points that Molly marked as points of orientation, but none of them intersect properly to find a connecting point. Or maybe he's just bad at drawing maps, that can be as well.

But the women..." he looks up in the trees and squints, trying to see them, "...I didn't follow them out of fear that they are something like pixies, that they'd lead us into some mischief and traps. I love me a good prank, but I'm not in the mood." He's too hot, the air is stuffy and all he wants now is a long, lazy bath.
