[ When Dorian finally drifts back to consciousness, it takes him a moment to realize that he isn't in the same place that he'd fallen asleep. It takes a few minutes longer for him to realize that he doesn't even remember when he had even drifted off in the first place. Even more disconcerting, though, is the sudden silence in his head, the lack of Orym's presence leaving a void in his mind that truly snaps him awake.
It's only then that the young woman nearby finally introduces herself as his new maid (her name is Maude, and Dorian just barely holds back a groan; Imgoen would so kill him for this), and it's only because of her reassuring nature that he ends up following her, listening to her explanation of where he is as she leads him to his new residence.
Once he's gotten settled in and he's fully grasped that he's no longer in Folkmore, he finally takes the opportunity to take a look around. But the empty part of his mind that Orym used to take up is still difficult to get used to. The last time it had been so quiet Orym had disappeared, even if only temporarily. Does that mean that Orym isn't here either? The thought twists at his heart.
Distracted by his worry and anxious thoughts, he doesn't notice the person in front of him until the last second, and only just barely manages to avoid running into them. ]
...Oh! Pardon me, I'm so terribly sorry.
B. The Greenhouse Effect
[ He maybe should have thought twice about the invitation, all things considered, but he could hardly pass up the chance. Events like these are always a good way to meet new people and gather information, and it would be rude to turn down such an invitation at any rate.
Totally not just an excuse to dress up and attend a ball, of course not.
He'd been agreeable to Maude's (ugh, it's still going to take some time getting used to that) suggestion of what to wear; while he isn't too familiar with the style of dress in this place, it's similar enough to outfits he's worn before at home, and he's more than willing to blend in as best as he can (still proving to be difficult, as just his skin color alone makes him stand out as much here as it did back in Folkmore). Green isn't a typical color for him, though, so finding a shade that would go with his skin tone takes a bit longer.
Eventually though, and with Maude's help, he does pull together an outfit that he's comfortable with, and promptly arrives at the Gardens. He hardly even needs to drink any of the offered alcoholic beverage to want to explore the greenhouse, though it certainly helps when he finally does drink some of it. But he isn't at all expecting the lush rainforest that greets him on the other side of the doors.
And it only takes a bit of wandering for him to become absolutely lost. He does his best to follow the glowing plants that light up the path, but as disorienting as this all is he still manages to get turned around somehow. He's grateful when he comes across someone else besides the dryads. ]
I don't suppose you know the way out of here, do you?
C. (Not quite) Skinny Dipping
[ While Dorian would hardly consider himself prude, stripping down naked where others could come across him is hardly proper etiquette. Even if it is rather tempting when he comes across one of the inviting pools of water.
Still, he's more than used to stuffy clothing in uncomfortable environments, and the gentle breeze that naturally accompanies him helps keep him a bit cool. That doesn't mean that he hasn't been loosening some of his clothes along the way, though, nor does it mean that he won't untie his cravat and dip it into the water to dab across his forehead.
He's still maybe considering throwing caution to the wind and just taking a quick dip, but as soon as someone else comes across the pool of water, he quickly steps back. ]
Oh, sorry. Do you, ah...need to cool down as well?
